The difference between 18" & 16" is probably going to be negligible for hunting/plinking. I wouldn't even worry about it. I would absolutely pay the extra for the Sig. I think those rifles are supremely undervalued and sooner than later they’ll end up at $2k retail. 6 months ago you could find one for $1299 online.

However, on the 16” vs 20” question, go 20” because the 16” with Mid-Length gas has been problematic. I had to switch the buffer spring to an M4 spring for it to be reliable on gas setting 2.The SFAR combines the ballistic advantages of .308 Winchester with the size of a traditional MSR. If you are asking this question you are probably better off buying a 716i, a good optic and an upgraded trigger, then going out and shooting a bunch. I think the 716I can perform alongside its older sibling, the 716 G1 & G2 Piston guns probably to the surprise of many. The 716I may also be able to potentially shoot more accurately than the 716 due to it build type. Big advantage of aero is not having all the proprietary parts. If you're going to go with the most budget conscious options for an aero build you'd do better going with the sig. It's accurate, very reliable, and uses a proprietary bolt that is built for operation in adverse conditions. 4. Reply.
