What I suggest is a fourth option: Saliva only. This way means that the player can't get infected with scratches, only bites. You can fall off a tall building and die, and your body will stay there. with everyone's infected - any death will reanimate you. You can fall off a tall building, and your corpse will get back up. It's like how it works in The Walking Dead- everyone's infected, it's just that the virus' presence only kills some people without outside help. I've tried searching up info on these settings but the descriptions I've found don't do a great job of clearing up how the two zombie respawn settings work. Default setting is 1. This means for 1 unit of fuel (hereafter referred to as uF), you get 1 unit of energy or uE. Setting the Gas Consumption to, let's say 50 for example, changes this ratio to 50 uF per 1 uE. I think if the consumption is high - the fuel will go out faster. You should check the official wiki.

The odds of becoming a zombie are, IIRC, 7% on a scratch, 25% from a laceration, and 100% if you get bitten. A lot of players, especially new players, will use sandbox settings to change it so only bites infect (it's the transmission setting under zombie lore). A few players disable transmission completely.
