On my old XB3 I had to ask Comcast tech support over the phone to put it in Bridge Mode for me, as it kept coming out of Bridge Mode randomly if I enabled it myself through 10.0.0.1. Bridge Mode working for me on XB3, XB6, and XB7 over the course of 7 years now with various routers.

Per anecdotal experience, Comcast gateways are not always reliable or easily configured. As a suggestion, rather than just using the gateway itself, a better option might be to simply put the gateway in "bridge" mode (so it effectively acts only as a modem) and buy a router with hairpinning (NAT loop back) as mentioned by @Spiff.

Business modems use a 10.1.10.1 and Resi use a 10.0.0.1 if you don't have any static IP addresses assigned from Comcast I would recommend taking a paperclip and holding it in for 30 seconds until it factory resets.
