Take a good pic from straight away above the bottom of the block and I'm sure a lot of 489/496 builders will chime in. If the block was cast after the early 70's, chances are that it will have clearance cast in. The earlier 427 blocks weren't cast for anything larger than a 3.76 stroke. Gary Adrian.
