Those are loads that are supposedly safe with any hull/wad combination so long as you use the called for charge of powder with a non-magnum primer for the given shot weight. I just went out and tried a 1 oz. load using the DRV20 wad. STS hull and W-209, 17.0 grs, Longshot, (Hodgdon lists from 16.3 to 18.0 using the WAA20F1), and 1 oz. #7-1/2 shot. Had to use a little bit of wad pressure, but it then fit and crimped very nicely. Just need to contact Hodgdon and get their blessing on the load.

You will find many, many loads that call for the TC20 wad as that is one of the many wads that BPI sells. Remington SP20 or SP20S Wads (or replacement... if there is any?) I'm wanting to load some 20ga #4 buck loads and have a Lyman #5 load book which calls for the SP20 wads. I have looked high and low for this wad and it's replacement SP20S to no avail! Does anyone know of a wad that I can substitute? The load in Lyman #5.

If you are looking for a one oz load, use the Remington SP20 wad. If you are looking for a 7/8 oz load I would suggest the Claybuster 1078-20. If you want to save shot and load just 3/4 oz, use the Claybuster 1075-20 wad. I am of the opinion that the suggestion of using the DRV-20 Down range wad in a STS case, would provide room for 15/16 oz. of shot. Lyman's #5 does list a couple of loads using the STS case and Longshot with the SP20 Rem wad, with pressures at 10,800 and 10,400 PSI, which would be suitable for tube sets.

Alliant does list the Remington RXP 20 wads as well as the AA 20 and even the Versalite, which is the DRV 20 wad in several recipes for the Federal plastic hull. Keep in mind the SP 20 is a 1 oz wad and the RXP is the 7/8 oz wad.

They are hard to find and Remington seems to be awfully proud of their product. Load is 20 gauge, 7/8 oz skeet loads at 1200 fps. Alliant 20/28 powder, Remington STS hulls, Fio 616 primers. I have to go look up my notes but I believe I'm using 15.4 gr powder.
