We started around 8:30- snow on the trail almost right from the start. Pretty hard packed/icy but it was totally manageable with microspikes. Some rockfall on the way up as things were warming and a little post holing by Gem but nothing awful. Pretty minimal crowds on the way up, a little more crowded ... A few exposed snowfields in the upper 500 feet make an ice ax handy. Where visible, cairns marked the way over the rugged mix of shrub, slab, snow and waterfalls.
