Got in truck after a short drive and started down the road and the truck would not shift out of first gear. I did a restart on the road and nothing changed. When I go from park to drive it immediately displays 1st gear and stays there.

When the valve does not move as expected by the TCM, it will set a fault code for that solenoid. Next pull the gray latch down.
