low, cylinders 3&4. medium, cylinders 1,2,5,6. & high all 6 cyliners is how an n14 or any older 855 operates. They have 3 separate engine brakes. Your engine has 2 engine brake solenoids that control 3 cylinders each. A more common problem on your engine is that the rocker shafts wear causing an internal oil leak at the engine brake control valves.

Toggle the switch between high and low. There is a distinct difference in the exhaust sound between high and low. From past experiance i know that if the gas pedal is not showing 0 input the jake brake will not operate. If I put the low/high switch into HIGH but dont activate the engine brake switch on the arm console, the coach will start its down shifting procedure as soon as you let off the gas.
