Look for hammers/metal pipe/lead pipe/crowbar/pipe wrench/metal bar in the garages (pipe wrenches are actually usually found in sinks). These are blunt and have decent damage with good durability. Axes have decent durability, good repair ability/good occupation and a hand axe+axeman is the best 1 handed backup weapon. +2 to axes and they’re easy as hell to level from day 1.
