TBH, after buying those practice exams, I don't find the NBME explanation super helpful. Most of the time, they give you a 1-liner reason for why the answer is right and then repeat that 1-liner in the "concept to learn" portion at the end of the explanations. If you are expecting UWorld level explanations, the NBMEs won't provide that.

Depends on how many weeks you have before shelf and how much free time you get to study. Mine was 6 weeks and UWorld and amboss were already a lot to handle. I found Lecturio questions quite useful, you could give it a shot too. Didn’t even finish the UW questions and was fine on the shelf.

Don't neglect the shelf studying Obviously, but it happens. Get through the UWorld, and do your Anki 2 or more times before the shelf. Use your lunch breaks, down time, etc. to get it done. It is such an arbitrary way to forfeit your grade. I realize that was long, but hopefully, if you were interested, it was a little helpful!
