SSD is not a good solution for an archive because it stores data as electric charge in its cells and the charge may eventually disappear when the SSD is offline for a longer period of time ( = couple of years). Manufactuers actually guaranee one year only data retention when the SSD is offline ( = without power). Data on HDD are more persistent.

For editing videos directly from the NAS, think about upgrading your network between the NAS and your computer to more than just 1GBit/s. There are 2.5, 5 and 10 G solutions out there and good harddrives will usually be bottlenecked by 1G.
