The intake gaskets weren't updated to Aluminum until after (~2012) all 3800's stopped being produced (2008). Therefore, no 3800 ever cane with them originally. If you see black edge on your LIM gaskets, near the injectors, they haven't been upgraded to aluminum versions (some cheaper knock offs now exist, along with AC Delco ones).

This has been an on-going problem (very common on the 3.1 & 3.4's). When the lower intake gaskets get old, the seals around coolant ports begins to seep a bit. And when the engine cools, the oil near these ports gets sucked into the coolant as it cools.
