The moment I got to the tower, I snuck around the side of the castle and set my party up to flank the enemies on the first floor. Unfortunately, it looked like Jaheira and her Harpers started the fighting without me – I could hear the sounds of screaming and dying behind the closed ... The two combats were not synchronized and harpers were getting massacred as I infiltrated. You probably triggered the assault, weren't aware, fast traveled and voila, dead Jaheira.
She is at the top of the tower, you have to clear the lower level with the help of the harpers (if those are still alive) and then you fight the general at the top of the tower together with her. All of the harpers are dead already. All the guards outside were dead also. Its just the general and his men downstairs.There are laughing, creepy kids. There are undead nurses treating dead bodies. Convinced Shadowheart to throw away her spear and Nightsong ascended and flew off. They were relatively safe in prison even after a few long rests. I did not start (3) until I was sure my map was mostly devoid of quest markers. 3.
