Of course, cannot totally rule out a wiring issue. Would take apart the kill and starter switch and clean contacts. Would also replace the starter relay (they are inexpensive).

The 900 does not lack in power and carries us very well we regularly do trips of 250 miles in a day. Things to consider. 900 does not have a good stack seat is must be changed or modified for longer rides to be comfortable. The 900 is not a big bike so don't expect big bike power from it at high speeds.
