it depends on how you use it. transformed it's all thrust serrated damage, so adept gems make sense, but i believe there's non-thrust damage in the untransformed version. that being said, why someone would use it untransformed is a mystery to me. kind of like using the whirligig saw untransformed. but you don't have to use adept gems; you can just go with tempering if you hate farming like i do.The Stake Driver isn't actually a ranged weapon, just a heads up.
