The standard swap for more power is the M104 TWIN CAM six cylinder which basically shares the same block as the earlier single cam straight six 2.6 M103 so most of the hardware is there already and you know its going to fit. The problem with fitting the later V6 or V8 engines is their width in what is a fairly narrow engine bay.
