The difference becomes meaningful only in prolonged fights where you get hit often. The only reason why I use medium rather than light is the bonkers stat bonuses on Skelos Master robes.

I always use advance flexibility/ gliding joints myself. Most of the armor kits are fairly useless for light armor but with gliding joints you can literally climb anything you want while in light armor.
