Long term you should 100% corrupt it, but if you use it now it won't cost you many more shards. If you corrupt a bow without using it beforehand, it will cost you 1900 shards. For every 100 charges you use before corrupting it, it will cost you 1 extra shard. So use up the 10k charges it starts with and it will cost you 2k to corrupt instead ...It's mostly used in bosses or raids that use multiple combat styles (CoX, Nex, ToB, ToA), so you'll want to have bowfa/bp and trident before you can make good use of it anyways. Or in the case of Nex, a ton of brews and super restores to blow and ideally armadyl armor & cbow (or tbow). I did do some light PvM with the regular crystal bow and armor while waiting for bowfa and while it is doable someplaces, it's really noticeable hitting 40+ with bowfa instead of 30+. ... Idk how people think pp is more chill than gauntlet. You can trade in enhanced crystal teleport seeds for 150 shards per. Rogue outfit means you get 2 seeds. This means you on average get upwards of 200 shards per hour. Karils is good for range if you need mage defense, or blessed dhide for range with slightly better melee defense. For most situation, blessed dhide is good enough and cheaper. Pretty much stuck with these until masori, arma is an expensice upgrade for very minimal stat gain.
So nex the bowfa is bad because it's dps is very low compared to using acb/zcb/fang and you use more shards on the armour then anywhere else in the game and also in small teams you will almost always have the tank and use 2x more supplies because you will have the lowest defence, you can use it for some kills but it wouldn't be ideal to camp nex with bowfaFirst off, you should literally never pvm with the bofa without the armor. A notable exception being shamans. Don't use bofa without crystal armor. I get around 1:20 - 2:00 minute kills with range only, even got a new personal best almost sub 1 minute but that was pretty lucky.Just being able to go back for an armor seed every now and then is a lot nicer than camping cg. bowfa without armor is better than crystal bow with armor...but that accuracy hit will hurt a lot on bosses.
