I did a UIM/LIM gasket job last year and Timing Cover-oil pah-engine mounts job this year, common thing I noticed there is alot of coolant still in the system after draing radiator ,like easily 2-3 quarts, on the UIM/LIM job I rember lots of coolant in LIM, so much that you need to be very careful when pulling it so it dosent go into cylnders.The issue of LIM gaskets on the NA SII 3800 engine regardless of GP year '97-'03 is not whether they will go bad or cause issues but just a matter of when. The UIM gasket is not the issue so much on the 3800 seriesII as it is the UIM plenum itself that fails.I guess if it consumes coolant then it will eventually overheat.
