Summons do help the drop rate, by a lot. I farmed souls without summoning with drop equips for two days and got only 1 soul per every 3 times i fell down the hole.Enemies in Souls games have always reacted to players trying to heal, but in DS2 your default drinking speed is slower than in any other game. Level up Adaptability and you'll get it up to first DS1 speeds, and then even faster than that if you keep going - though don't bother going any higher once your Agility (the derived stat) is at 105.

The input lag is maddening! DS3 was my first DS game and I loved the hell out of it. So much so I wanted more more more! However with the final DLC coming out next week I decided to try the other DS games. The problem is the input lag in DS 2 is driving me crazy!
